News: Attic Theory build towards release of debut album What We Fear The Most in April 2024

Published: 30th January 2024

Having released music steadily during the last few years, Liverpool’s self-proclaimed alternative groove rockers, Attic Theory have started to attract a dedicated following. In 2020, they released their debut EP  - The Sign of An Active Mind - which was voted EP of the year by the members of the Facebook group New Wave of Classic Rock. Making intelligent use of their three guitarists (Peter Donnelly, Tim Cunningham and Matt Lawler), Attic Theory established themselves as a band with an excellent balance of aggression, hooks and melody. Songs such as Cold Hard Reality, Your Light and My Own Design were the perfect vehicle for Lewis Wright’s vocals which sit somewhere between Chris Cornell’s delivery on his more straight ahead rock songs (think the Bond theme song for Casino Royale) and the tenacity of Brent Smith of Shinedown.

Attic Theory has garnered significant radio play on stations like Planet Rock, Kerrang Radio, and Total Rock Radio. The band has shared the stage with notable acts such as Terrorvision, Tony Wright, Black Spiders, and Candlebox. They have also toured with Elvana (Elvis fronted Nirvana), Dead Man's Whiskey, and American rockers Tantric across the UK and Europe. Attic Theory has performed at various festivals including Planet Rockstock, Wildfire Festival, SavFest, and Firevolt (previously Firestorm MCR), and won their heat in the competition for the opening slot at the Stonedead Festival in 2024.

Building towards the release of their debut album, What We Fear The Most, in April 2024, Attic Theory have released several singles including Tattooed Heart, Narrow Line and Papier-Mâché (the last featuring Kevin Martin of Candlebox), all of which are songs that could capture the hearts and minds of fans of classic rock, post-grunge and more alternative rocks leanings. The band’s next single, Violent Delight, is due for release on 8th March 2024 (a review on Hotel Hobbies to follow nearer the time), and Attic Theory will no doubt entice fans with another high-octane anthem.

With a line-up completed by bassist Kenny McArthur and drummer Norm Walker, Attic Theory have poured their hearts and souls into What We Fear The Most, believing it to be their best work to date. Helmed by producer Loïc Gaillard (Revival Black and Ashen Reach), the album (which again will be reviewed here) exudes an abundance of commanding vocals, exquisitely inventive melodies, explosive guitars, and irresistibly infectious grooves. The band sincerely hope that fans will connect with the music on a deep level, finding solace in the realisation that they are not alone in their fears.

What We Fear The Most will be released via the bands own label ThunderGun Records and distributed by Nova Music Distribution UK LTD on Friday 26th April 2024, available on all major music streaming services, CD and standard and coloured vinyl.
